Spectacles for cycling – one of the most diverse sports
With sports spectacles it is possible to not only protect the eyes from foreign objects, flies, dirt and stones, but also to optimally correct vision using the latest technologies.
Good vision is essential for everyone
But the following applies to all: Good vision is indispensable. Safety in road traffic or far away from civilisation is only guaranteed if you can see everything, assess risks and dangers and deliver the physical performance.
Today it is possible to not only protect the eyes from foreign objects, flies, dirt and stones, but also to optimally correct vision using the latest technologies.
Why does one need different filter colours?
Colours affect the body like medicine and drugs. Yellow improves concentration, orange gives power and stamina. These colours also enhance the contrast, thus offering an exact depth of focus which is extremely important when riding off-road. The shape of the spectacle frame decides whether you can see all important areas without changing posture. For instance, the tour rider needs a frame that permits a view of his map and the instruments, as well as the normal view ahead. Off-road mountain bikers, especially downhill, mainly need a wide field of vision so they do not have to constantly turn their heads. On the other hand, the road racers should primarily have an adequate field of vision upwards as their sitting posture is bent forward across long distances.
Recommendation:
When choosing the lenses the question often arises as to whether progressive lenses are the first choice for individuals who already need reading spectacles. A progressive lens is generally technically feasible and the image quality is excellent thanks to the Rodenstock technology. These lenses are recommended for tour riders, road riders and leisure riders. However, they are not recommended for mountain bikers, downhill riders and all cycling activities where the view is primarily downwards.
